Town Centre Securities’ First Private Rental Scheme Scoops Award

January2020

Town Centre Securities’ (TCS) first Private Rented Sector (PRS) development in Manchester, Burlington House, has been awarded ‘Apartment Development of the Year’ (fewer than 100 homes) at the prestigious Insider North West Residential Property Awards.

Award judges recognised that the development has served as one of the catalysts for further regeneration and development across Piccadilly Basin

Delivered in partnership with Highgrove Group and designed by internationally-acclaimed Architects SimpsonHaugh, the luxury waterfront scheme is set within the award-winning 12.5 acre Piccadilly Basin development (also owned by TCS) and comprises of 91 apartments of 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms set over 11 floors.

The unique building has transformed the landscape of the area and was fully let within just 3 months of launch. Attracting a mix of tenants including young professionals and couples looking for city centre living, it also offers good access to leisure facilities, culture, transport and jobs.

The success of the waterfront scheme has been attributed to its prime location in a revitalised, established area of the city; the high quality specification and space within the apartments, as well as the tech-enabled amenities whereby tenants can access everything from parcel deliveries and personal training to dog walking and concierge services via a mobile app, which appeals to tech-savvy millennials. Award judges specifically recognised that the development has served as one of the catalysts for further regeneration and development across Piccadilly Basin, with additional extensive refurbishment already underway by TCS at the iconic Ducie House and Carvers Warehouse office buildings.

Edward Ziff, Chairman and Chief Executive of Town Centre Securities, commented;

“We were delighted that our inaugural PRS scheme was so well received and fully let within just a short period after launch. To be now recognised at the prestigious North West Residential Property Awards is further testament to the smooth delivery of the project and high standard of this unique scheme.

The success of Burlington House highlights the potential of our development pipeline and underlines how we continue to strategically unlock value from it. The development forms the centre of our PRS investment in Manchester and will benefit from the strong demand for residential property in the city. We are reviewing options for further PRS development within Piccadilly Basin.”

Marc Banks, Divisional Managing Director of GMI Construction said;

“We are delighted to have been involved with the delivery of Burlington House, which stands as a testament to Town Centre Securities’ ambition for the ongoing regeneration of Manchester’s Piccadilly Basin area. I am thrilled that this unique scheme has received the recognition it deserves through being chosen as the worthy winner of this award”.
