A firm supporter of the regeneration of Piccadilly and an advocate of the green agenda, Richard’s appointment reaffirms his commitment to the work of the heart of the City.
The Partnership is a strategic and pioneering alliance of public and private sectors, uniting key landowners, Manchester City Council, Cityco, other public sector services and local occupiers. Established in 2003, the Partnership’s goal is to drive forward the regeneration of Manchester’s traditional heart, through the provision of a forum for consultation, discussion and debate on all issues influencing the area.
New Chief Executive, Janet Dunnett, explains the important role of the Partnership’s Board of Directors; “The twelve directors play a vital role in the continuing success of the Piccadilly Partnership by initiating and implementing change, be it changes to the infrastructure, or changes to the perceptions of Piccadilly. A mix of developers, property owners, retailers, hoteliers and SMEs all of the directors have a vested interest in the area and their collective knowledge and passion enables the Partnership to achieve its core objectives. Piccadilly Basin plays an integral part of the regeneration of Piccadilly and Richard’s appointment will undoubtedly further strengthen the board.”
Richard Lewis continues; “I have been involved in the work of the Partnership for some time and wanted to take that involvement to the next level. Partnerships such as these are crucial to ensure cohesive progression of areas like Piccadilly and I am looking forward to working with the directors to achieve our mutual goals.”
One of the key areas of focus for the Piccadilly Partnership for 2008 is in improving the public realm. The Partnership is producing a guide which it intends to be an inspiration and aspiration to improve the public spaces in Piccadilly. For further information visit www.piccadillymanchester.com
