Merrion Centre sees visitor numbers rise again

Footfall across the centre reached a new high across July, August and September, with almost 2.75 million visits throughout the three month period, up by almost 7% on the corresponding period in 2015.

The Merrion Centre, the longest established shopping centre in Leeds, experienced a record breaking number of visitors over the third quarter of 2016.

The Merrion Centre welcomed more than 875,000 visitors in each of the three months, with September peaking at 931,000. Visits in July and August were up 7% and 13% respectively, at 890,173 and 888,881 people.

The Merrion Centre has brought a series of high profile new names to Leeds city centre over recent months, including football club Leeds United, specialist craft beer and ale bar The Dockyard, and leading value grocery retailer Heron Foods.
